Two new caps have forced their way into the Telecom Fijiana team to Dubai.
Jiowana Sauto and former Fiji netball rep, Vaiti Coa were both named in the team by Coaching Director of Women’s Rugby, Chris Cracknell.
“The two new caps deserve their chance, Jiowana was a star at the 2015 Junior Commonwealth Games in Samoa and has a bright future ahead. She comes in for the injured Asinate Savu, whilst Vaiti who has transitioned from Netball only eight weeks ago, has impressed with high fitness scores and offers a point of difference to the team” Cracknell said.
He added that the girls have only had a short time to rebuild for Dubai and that all the other teams would be on their guard following the Telecom Fijiana’s qualification for Rio.
“The girls have had only a small camp to rebuild for Dubai, but are excited for a new challenge together and to test themselves against new opposition”
“As ever the girls have been reminded that their attitude has to be spot on and now that the other teams have seen a new Telecom Fijiana team they will be on their guard against us. We’ve put the qualification for the Olympics behind us and we are moving forward on to the next job.”
“I’d like to thank TFL for their support for the team, Ropate Kauvesi, Iliesa Tanivula, Jennifer Wainiqolo and Matt Dooly who make up the management group for their excellent support in getting the squad in the right place for Dubai.”
The team departs at 9am tomorrow morning from the Nadi International Airport.
