Calls have been made for an Expert Independent review panel on the country’s education system.
The call has been made by the National Federation Party following their concerns raised on the Exam results of Year 13 students.
NFP Leader Dr Biman Prasad has today stated there is confusion among students and parents on the statement by Education Minister that no students have failed.
Dr Prasad said the Minister needs to be clear in his explanations.
Prasad also raised concern about the current education reforms.
Meanwhile, when the issue was raised to the Education Minister Dr Mahendra Reddy today he refuted reports that he stated there was a 100 percent pass rate.
He said this was said by the media.
Earlier this week, the Education Minister stated no student had failed during the announcement of the Year 13 results.
Dr Reddy also said it is unfortunate that NFP wants to call students failure who get below 200 marks.
Dr Reddy said Government has opportunities for all students who get below 200 marks through the TVET programmes and TELS.
In response to concerns about reforms by NFP, Dr Reddy said the party is living in an isolated place as the UN Special Rapporteur gave the education reforms a thumbs up.
