The Nadroga Rugby Union again raised the importance of grooming local players at the FRU Special General Meeting yesterday.
Nadroga used the difference in fifteens and sevens as an example.
‘Nadroga is always pushing for improvements in how we run our local rugby and eventually we will reap the fruits of it by providing players that can play at national level looking at our 7s team we have all local players but when we look at our fifteens team only two local players went for the world cup and that’s a big challenge,’Nadroga Rugby Union President,Tiko Matawalu said.
But Nadroga is confident with the plans in place to move Fiji rugby forward.
‘I believe with the new direction that was presented at the SGM we are heading in a good direction and we also have our confidence and trust in the new board and new management that’s going to be appointed to take our rugby forward especially with the performances for our 7’s and 15’s world cup,’Matawalu added.
