Cyclone-Season2 No adverse reports have been received so far on the areas directly affected by Tropical Cyclone Ula.

The National Disaster Management Office Director Akapusi Tuifagalele gave an update this afternoon in a press conference.

” We continue to receive reports from the eastern division so far there has been no adverse reports from them. The islands of Ono, Kabara theyve been experiencing strong winds but no impacts of injuries or houses damaged.” said Tuifagalele

Power supply is affected for parts of the eastern and northern division.

Water supply is affected for Korovou and Levuka with repairs underway.

Roads in the western  and northern division are all clear. Within the central boundary in Viti Levu all roads are accessible but restoration works is still progressing with some precautionary warning for certain sites.

Only one evacuation center Nabua Primary school remains open with 139 stranded passengers of Patterson shipping bound for Nabouwalu. The service will resume tomorrow.

Tuifagalele also raised concern on some not taking weather advisories seriously.

” The tropical cyclone is still with us even though its concentrating in southern Lau. The impacts are some of the strong winds and rain that can come from there  so its important to note this tropical cyclone has not moved away and its important that we should be able to take care of ourselves” said Tuifagalele
