The Land Transport Appeals Tribunal has today issued an interim stay order on Lautoka based Khan Buses road route license to operate express service from Lautoka to Suva.
The company was issued with the license in 2014.
However, an appeal was made by the Sunbeam Transport Limited against this route license.
The tribunal in its ruling stated that the manner in which LTA dealt with the application of this license needs consideration and examination.
Owners of the company are now crying foul over this decision.
They say they followed all the procedures properly while accruing the license.
“Just because somebody did not do their work properly, that does not mean that we suffer. LTA has the authority and when they put something in writing,we will follow it.We got our buses and all of sudden we are stopped. LTA wasn’t defending by saying why did they do what they did.”
The company has invested close to a million dollars on this route.
It was making 14 trips in a week.
Khan now hopes to take this matter forward.
“We had 4 buses that were involved and altogether we are losing 7 staff as of today and then the impact on general public this afternoon.”
