$1.3 million remand block for Lautoka

FCSThe Fiji Corrections Service yesterday sealed a $1.3 million deal with Pernix Fiji Limited for the construction of a new remand block.

The project, once completed would accommodate 100 remand inmates in Lautoka and move the Corrections Service a step closer to meeting the UN space standards for inmates.

Present at the signing were senior corrections officials including the Acting Commissioner Corrections Kameli Ratuvakalevulevu, Assistant Commissioner Admin Superintendent Apimeleki Taukei and executives of Pernix, El-Rahi and projects director Bill Adams.

Pernix Fiji Ltd, which constructed the new US Embassy complex in Tamavua, Suva also has operations in Vanuatu, PNG, Guam, Mariana Islands, Africa and within the US.

Work will commence on February 1st and the project is expected to be completed by August 18 this year.
