250 needy students will receive educational assistance from the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation.
The students were given school bags and stationery yesterday.
The assistance will be given to 200 students in the northern division and 50 from the central division.
Minister for Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar also took the opportunity to speak about government’s commitment to continue improving access to education.
Parents have also been urged to support their children’s education.
“You are equally responsible in ensuring your children are responsible with the necessary tools to be in school. If we can reiterate parental involvement is essential in terms of our Government’s education framework and this framework can provide the impetus for our parents and guardians to commit themselves,” stressed Akbar.
