Safeguard Fiji and Fijians:PM

Screen shot 2016-01-24 at 5.25.47 PMPersonnel of different faiths belonging to the Defence Force gathered for a joint church service today.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama while addressing those in attendance said they should reaffirm their commitment to the Fijian people.

Our job is to protect and serve to use our enforcement and coercive powers for good and to do so  always within the spirit of the law and of course in celebration of the fact that we are called to a noble service,that everyday we have the ability to do right,to ease suffering to protect the weak and to make Fiji a better place.

 

The modern day demands of their job also requires them to adapt.

We have grown and advanced Fiji has grown and advanced.We have adapted to new threats and new technology,narcotics, cyber crime,identity theft,human trafficking.Who in Colonial times would have thought that we would have to dedicate huge resources and hours to fighting these crimes,of course it is your duty and your challenge to adapt and to change too do battle against the threat to the Fijian people with new knowledge and new technology.

 

Recognition was also given for the challenges they face while conducting their duties.

“Our people and communities put their faith in you to do these things but your job is not easy you must follow the law,always you are held to a higher standard,even the criminals because of course they are criminals while you represent the people”

 

Also attending the combined church service at the Vodafone Arena was  the Acting Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, Acting Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Viliame Naupoto, and also Kameli Ratuvakalevulevu the Acting Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service.
