Eight nurses based at the Rakiraki hospital have lost all their belongings after a fire destroyed their living quarters last night.
The fire started at about half past eleven.
These quarters are allocated to single male and female nurses – and was occupied at the time.
The fire is believed to have started from one of the rooms.
The National Fire Authority was able to control the fire and managed to save the outer shell of the building.
However, the inner structure sustained major damage as the walls and ceilings burnt out.
NFA, Police and the Fiji Electricity Authority have carried out a preliminary investigation today.
The Provincial Administration in Rakiraki is making alternate arrangements to house the 8 nurses.
