NASA’s Su-omi satellite describes TC Winston as the most powerful

Now described as the most powerful cyclone to hit Fiji in the last 20 years, the strength of Tropical Cyclone Winston has even been spotted from outer space.

These are pictures captured by NASA’s Su-omi satellite.

The satellite picture clearly shows that Tropical Cyclone Winston’s Eye measures at least 15 nautical miles across surrounded by a thick band of thunderstorms

At 10 am this morning the system increased to 125 knots – the equivalent of 231 kilometers an hour.
