Beneath a prop to symbolise the cross on Calvary, hundreds gathered at the Christian Mission Fellowship church in Kinoya, to mark Good Friday.
Along with songs a sermon was also delivered to highlight the significance of this religious holiday.
Reverend Suliasi Kurulo–Chrisitan Mission Fellowship–Founder, shared “The humiliation, the shame, the rejection,Jesus understood suffering, humiliation, rejection, most of the time what we go through in life,so he came he endured the shame and rejection. He was nailed on the cross because of you, because of me.”
During this Easter weekend the youth of the church will also carry out an re-enactment of Christs crucifixion, burial and his resurrection.
Kurulo adds “He wants to identify with people that’s why he suffered, that’s why he was rejected,he went through shame. He was able to identify with the suffering of humanity”
Along with other Christian denominations, a series of services will be held leading up to Easter Sunday which marks Christs Resurrection.
He said “This God who sits on the throne, this God even the whole world declares his glory he was able to step into this world”
Fasting is also carried out by some of the Christian faith as an Easter observance.
