Police not ruling out parental negligence

Screen shot 2016-04-02 at 7.43.50 PMPolice are still searching for a mother who left her 10-month-old baby at home on Friday last week.

While locating her is a priority, police reveal the mother could also be investigated for child negligence.

It is almost a week now since Asenaca Naio left her home,at Wainibuku 9 miles, and her baby with her sister.

ACP Rusiate Tudravu–Chief Operations Officer, Fiji Police Force said already there are leads that they are looking into.

“The mother went out on Friday night last week it was confirmed by the elder sister that is looking after the 10 months old girl,now according to them this is one of those cases where husband and wife relationship is not that good and the husband has left them.”

The 25 year old left on the 18th of April and ensuring her safe return is a priority for police.

He adds “The issue here is why she’s not coming back because the girl is a 10 month old, that is the issue we are trying all our best to get to locate the mother so she can just come back.”

Police are also not ruling out parental negligence.

“Investigations will go along that line if she’s not performing the role of a mother definitely we will interview her for that she’s left the I know it’s in the custody of the sister but she should be there to look after even just go out and come back now she’s missing for almost a week it’s just a 10 months old girl.Parental negligence we’ll look into that.”

Meanwhile police are also trying to locate 18 year old Kelera Likusau a form 6 student of DAV College, who is still missing since the 31st of last month.
