Police officers are to refrain from recommending a reconciliation to parties involved in sexual offences.
The warning comes following revelations that certain officers continue to do so.
ACP Rusiate Tudravu–Chief Operations Officer said “We have been told that some police officers are encouraging for reconciliation.I want to put it on record for public consumption, to know that this is not allowed.”
A no drop policy of sexual offences is also in place and again reinforced by the Commissioner of Police.
Tudravu said serious disciplinary action will be taken against officers engaging in this.
Crimes committed against women and children are to be investigated immediately.
He adds “All report in relation to sexual offences reported,or domestic violence reported at any police station there is a policy directive already issued by the Commissioner of Police that there should not be any reconciliation done by police officers, all are to be investigated.”
