Airports Fiji Limited has announced that pre-tender due diligence and selection process for the Rotuma runway extension is now underway.
According to AFL’s Executive Chairman Faiz Khan the contractor selection will take place in the next two months.
Yesterday, AFL charted Fiji Link to take their shortlisted bidders, consultants and a representative from the Department of Environment to Rotuma for site inspection.
AFL has bigger plans for Rotuma where they will be able to land the ATR 42 aircraft after the runway upgrades and a compliant runway that allows bigger more efficient aircraft to land will result in greater frequency and lower air fares.
Khan added that government has a vision of better connecting Fijians in outer islands to our main land and boosting their local economies.
