PM KiuvaPrime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has called on people to make a difference in relation to nation building.

Bainimarama was speaking at the Fiji National University Sustainable Livelihood Project Graduation ceremony at Kiuva, Tailevu yesterday.

The Prime Minister told the graduates anything is possible if they put their minds to it, set firm goals, work hard and remain focused.

He said the same applies to nation building.

” I want a more caring nation as much as a more successful nation. I want men to respect and care for their women. I want everyone to love and care for our children. We must put a stop to the scandalous incidence of rape in Fiji. We must put a stop to the scandalous incidence of child abuse. We must put a stop to the scandalous incidence of domestic violence. And that commitment has to begin with each and every one of us. We must all ask ourselves. What am I going to do as a member of Team Fiji? As I strive to improve my own life, what am I going to do to improve the lives of others? To watch out for our women and girls. To protect our children. To stand up for the victims of domestic violence. You have all been given an opportunity with these courses to earn more sustainable livelihoods. But I also want you to think about what you are going to do to achieve real change in Fiji. To stand up for the downtrodden and the disadvantaged among us – the battered wives and partners, the abused children. And stand up to the rapists and the bullies who resort to violence to impose their own wills.  My fellow Fijians, each of us can make a difference if we only make a commitment to ourselves and each other to do so. Great days lie ahead for our nation if we can remain united and focused and work together as one people. And even greater days lie ahead if we can all treat each other with love, consideration, compassion and respect.” said Bainimarama
