MArcellinMarcellin Camillo a Year 7 student of Marist Brothers Primary School feels blessed to have earned a Rugby Scholarship to Terrington College in York, England.

Like previous recipients, Marcellin stands a good chance to continue for another 5 years.

He was awarded the scholarship for his achievements as a representative for the Nadi and Suva Districts and being a part of the U10 and U11 Championship teams.

In Nadi he played in the forwards and for Suva he ran out on the wing.

After I got the scholarship I was really happy I was glad but little bit sad because I was going to leave my parents. I didn’t want to take the scholarship because I missed everyone.  In Under 9 I played well I became the best player and I was supposed to go in the Nadi team but some coaches didn’t want me to go so I was really sad that day. Then when I was in Under 10 one of the boys who never went training a lot he never went so I joined the U10 and I played for Nadi. I was really glad and my parents were there, but taking this sponsorship it’s really good,” said Marcellin Camillo – Recipient.

His dad, Abel Camillo who is also a Marist Old Boy says that parents and guardians should understand what rugby can award their children with.

“You can have rugby but education is the primary reason. Life is an adventure so we believe that our child needs that adventure. Yes he’s young but we’ve prepared his for some time for this,” said Abel Camillo – Dad.

He will leave our shores with the other awardee Nelson Delailomaloma and whose father will be taking the boys across on August 28th.
