The appointment of a non member of parliament to lead the SODELPA party was questioned in parliament yesterday.
Minister for Foregin Affairs Ratu Inoke Kubuabola has questioned the SODELPA parliamentary leader as to why other MPs in the party were not chosen to lead the SODELPA party.
Kubuabola raised this during the 2016-2017 budget debate, stating that it was not proper for a leader of a party to NOT be a member of Parliament.
“How is it that you have a party leader from outside the house but convention is the party leader is always a member of parliament. Don’t you have people excited to read in the papers the Honorable Kiliraki, Ratu Isoa Tikoca, the Honorable Gavoka names were being put up to be party leaders… but convention if you look at all the parliaments all over the world, party leaders are always a member of parliament. That’s just a question I would like to put to the leader of opposition,” Kubuabola said.
