While delivering his speech during the budget debate, Koroilavesau says this project will assist most Fijians.

“Under the provision of $0.8m allocated to the foreign employment services to support guest work program employment opportunities for Fijians in countries such as New Zealand, Australia, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. In 2017 we anticipate 500 workers to work in New Zealand and 1000 workers to Australia under our seasonal work program and also to the U-S and Canada,” Koroilavesau said.

And there’s also good news for retired teachers with new opportunities opening up around the region.

“Under the NEC (National Employment Center) the Fiji Volunteer scheme has been allocated $1.4m to assist in the deployment of retired teachers to other Pacific countries. 38 teachers will be deployed to a number of countries on a cost share basis arrangement other than teaching.”
