Government is working on addressing issues relating to medicine supply.
Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum highlighted in Parliament a few years ago a lot of the medicine that were bought were nearing their expiry date.
Sayed – Khaiyum said improvement is needed in the overall procurement system and methodologies.
“There were some changes that did take place within that particular department. We believe there’s a lot more room for improvement in that respect we’ll be working together with the Minister and his team through the Fiji Procurement Office and the government tender board , that way the tender is called, the drugs that are purchased, the quality of the drugs that are purchased and our ability to source from other lot more competitively priced markets will actually be furthered in the coming financial year” said Sayed – khaiyum
