The 2016-2017 National budget was passed by parliament last night.
After four days and hours of debate and clarifications 31 members of parliament voted for the budget while 14 voted against it and 5 did not vote.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama said while the 2016-2017 national budget focused on Tropical Cyclone Winston recovery, his government believes the focus on the future is vital.
Bainimarama said they had to make some tough decisions in the Budget but they have given what people needed.
Meanwhile, Opposition shadow Minister for Finance Biman Prasad said it was a well debated budget
