Thousands of fans lined up the main street of Labasa town yesterday to welcome our Fiji 7s team.
Even though five players turned up – it didn’t dampen the spirits of the thousands of enthusiastic fans.
The Prime Minister made sure the Northerners would not be left out.

Coach Ben Ryan was also acknowledged in a special way at Subrail park.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama asked the more than 10 thousand fans at Subrail park to have a special cheer for Ryan.
Captain Osea Kolinisau apologised on behalf of the team as 8 players couldn’t make it to Labasa due to club and personal commitments.
Kolinisau again grabbed the opportunity to acknowledge the other players in the likes of Isake Katonibau, Josua Vici, Sevuloni Mocenacagi,Nemani Nagusa, Alifereti Veitokani, Emosi Mulevoro, Pio Tuwai and Amenoni Nasilasila.
The skipper recalled that historical night in Rio but the win was even more special when the team saw the support at home when they returned.
The players returned to Viti Levu straight after the celebrations but no one can deny the fact that more celebrations are planned.
