The Suva High Court has refused the application by the Attorney-General’s Chambers to strike out a case the Fiji Times Limited.
The country’s oldest newspaper has taken Government to court over its selection of The Fiji Sun (News) Limited as the exclusive newspaper for Government advertisements for 2016.
The AG’s chambers had submitted because of the advertising of the new tender Fiji Times Ltd no longer had a cause of action and its case was an abuse of process and should be struck out.
This is after the Fiji Times asked for proper tender process limited to those who gave the Expression of Interest.
The newspaper is also claiming that the Solicitor-General did not follow the Government’s Procurement Regulations in awarding its contract to the Fiji Sun.
The hearing of the case will now proceed on the 23rd of this month.
