Sangam Fiji has today assured its members the organisation will steer clear from politics.
Sangam Fiji National President Damend Goundar says the Then India Sanmarga Ikya Sangam has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons.
There are couple of people who may not be happy with some of the issues and there is a way for Sangam to address it and unfortunately they did not follow the procedures set by our organization and which has been followed for the last 90 years.”
Last month, Minister Praveen Bala and 5 other members were suspended from Sangam and they had challenged their suspension through the courts.
But the court ruled in favour of Sangam Fiji and ordered each of them to pay $8000 to the organisation’s executives.
The Fiji Police Force also stopped Sangam Fiji’s annual general meeting in Nadi after threats of violence were posed by some members.
Bala told Fiji One News today he is still an active member of the organisation but chose not to comment on Sangam’s leadership or whether he has paid the court’s fine.
However Sangam Fiji says they will not stop any members from being part of it’s programs.
