It was successfully implemented by the Parks and Reserves Unit of the Ministry of Forests which took a period of six months to complete.

The Park was officially opened last Friday by Minister for Forests Osea Naiqamu.

The Nabalasere Ecotourism Venture and Forest Parks is part of the wider Tomani-ivi landscape that is the main catchment area for Viti Levu that feeds the Wainibuka River.

Naiqamu says the Tomani-ivi peak is protected under Tomani-ivi Forest Reserve.

There is work also being conducted to widen the forest areas to be protected for the purpose of biodiversity conservation, which will encompass much of the district of Saivou, including the Nabalasere land.

Food and Agriculture Organisation have been partnering with the ministry on the project.
