Over 500 students today participated at the annual chemistry competition organized by the USP’s Chemical Society.
50 schools battled for top honours with Mahatma Ghandi Memorial High school taking first place.
The competition culminated with an awards ceremony.
The Chemistry quiz is one of the many initiatives organized by the Chemical Society to encourage more students to take up chemistry.
“You organized competitions, expositions, workshops, chemistry outreach to schools. I must convey the Ministry of Education’s most sincere gratitude in the organization of chemistry related activities for secondary schools,” said permanent secretary for Education, Kelera Taloga.
“We spent around 3-4 weeks preparing for this and as you can see it paid off from our hard work,” a delighted Shahil Lal of MGM said.
