The Samoa 7s team are wary of the might of all the Fijian teams at the two-day Pacific Energy Ovalau 7s this weekend.
With no knowledge about the local teams, McGrath says he is confident this trip will be worthwhile.
“We’ve just been together just eight weeks, I’ve only been in post just 8 weeks so we haven’t had long to prepare so it was in form that we got away as a group just to spend some time together as we were on tour and work on things off the field as well as on the field so this is a key part of our build up to the Olympic qualifiers which is in two weeks time.”
This is the their first trip to the old capital and they’re looking forward to the experience.
“Well they’re really excited about coming here because they know that they gonna be stretched when we play so after all this hard work, training to come here and finally getting a chance to play games they’re very excited. Just to enjoy things and not to worry if they make mistakes, the only way we learn is by making mistakes so if things don’t go to plan this weekend, not to worry too much, said Damian McGrath – Samoa 7s Coach.
The Samoa 7s team arrived into Levuka tonight.
