9-year-old John Issac crouched inside a classroom as Cyclone Pam devastated his village of Tanna in Vanuatu.
Yesterday Issac had the chance to meet and share his story with Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan, the keynote speaker at the Pacific Humanitarian Partnership meeting.
Speaking through an interpreter Issac said “when cyclone Pam came to Tanna I was very very afraid”
Tanna was the worst hit area during Cyclone Pam.
Issac was also the youngest person to share his ordeal with 200 participants during the disaster response forum currently underway.
He said “I was in the school and Cyclone Pam destroyed all the houses and we went to a classroom and took shelter there”
