antonioThe West Chow Games squad is in full training mode in their quest to also take the overall trophy down to the West this year.

After the recent success of Jasper High School in the Coca Cola Games, officials have decided to seek the assistance of someone they believe could come out with a winning formula.

Braving the hot sun and racing against time to perfect their skills ahead of the FMF Chow Games.

“We’ve been doing this competition for secondary schools early this year in the last years too which has helped big schools like Jasper and Natabua and a lot of schools in the West that has come up recently. And now we’re coming down to the primary schools just to help them in terms of their preparations for their big competition and also raise the level of athletics as a whole in Fiji,” said Antonio Raboiliku – Athletics Coach.

It’s hard though trying to follow their elder brothers and sisters from Natabua and Jasper respectively, the dominant winners  at the Coke Games.

“I’m sure that is a boost for the athletes that are here but than again come competition day it is always different for all athletes and all districts in the Chow Games. We cannot compare with what we have in the primary school to the secondary school but yes it should have some positive influence on the athletes,” said Antonio Raboiliku – Athletics Coach

With exams coinciding with training, they’re trying their best to prepare for the challenge ahead.

“We have, very well a busy schedule because of exams, as it is we’re working towards achieving a target, set week by week and hopefully that come the Chow Games we will be able to give our best in the participation in the Nationals,” Antonio Raboiliku – Athletics Coach

The Western team knows that Suva will be their biggest rival.
