Australian Minister for International Development and the Pacific Steven Ciobo will arrive in Fiji tomorrow.
This is part of Ciobo’s regional visit including New Caledonia and Niue this week.
The trip marks Ciobo’s second visit to Fiji this year which is to engage on important issues including climate change, economic growth and trade, women’s empowerment and to see Australia’s aid program at work.
Ciobo said Australia recognizes climate change is a critical issue for our region, with significant potential to impact prospects for economic growth and stability.
The Australian government he says is working with Pacific Island countries on resilience measures through the Green Climate Fund and our regional aid program.
Supporting economic growth, regional integration and resilience against climate change in Pacific Island communities are the key priorities for Australia’s aid investments.
He says the Australian Government is committed to taking the bilateral relationship into a new era of partnership and prosperity – and builds on the goodwill generated by Prime Minister Bainimarama’s recent visit to Sydney
