The Fiji U-19 team to the Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh are on track with their preparations.
The team had a warm-up game with the Army Cricket team today to work on areas they still need to improve on.
Braving the hot sun to get their game plan in order before they go on the Christmas break.
This is all part of their preparation for the Australian Tour.
“Things are going positive at the moment, the matches are just lined up to make sure the boys’ get enough game time before we go overseas, we got matches up in Australia that’s lined up as well,” said Joe Rika the U-19 Coach.
This was an ideal opportunity for the team as the men from Delainabua were on hand to assist in preparations.
“We very grateful to Army for the support they’ve shown over the last few weeks and we wanna continue this to the end of the week before we go on break for Christmas.”
He adds this build-up in Australia will help prepare them well for Bangladesh.
“At the moment there’s five, the tour itself is gonna last for two weeks and in between the two weeks there’s about 3 schedule rest days but most of the trip the boys will be involved with Cricket.”
The boys’ will be closely monitored during the Christmas break.
“They’ve got a strict training plan that’s lined up with Henry so they know the consequences of going a bit too far on certain things. But they’ve been good, they managed themselves really well for the last six months. They’ve got themselves re-hydrated well, recovery sessions have been going well.”
They fly out to Australia on January 6th and the 2016 Under 19 Cricket World Cup will take place from the 24th of February in Bangladesh.
