1768 people within the cyclone affected areas of Rakiraki, Ba, Ovalau and Tailevu were treated by the final Australian medical assistance teams or AusMAT.
The team returned to Australia earlier this week after providing primary health care to affected communities.
The AusMAT teams consisted of doctors, nurses, paramedics, logisticians, a pharmacist and allied health staff.
They were also assisted by our local medical personnel.
Prior to departure, the team also donated $23 thousand worth of medicine to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
The medicines include pain relief, oral rehydration, and antibiotics to manage a range of infections and communicable diseases.
The deployment of the AusMAT teams is part of Australia’s broader $23 million package of humanitarian assistance provided to Fiji.
