Screen Shot 2016-03-24 at 5.22.01 PMThe French Military Forces completed response operations and returned to New Caledonia yesterday.

This was confirmed by the media spokesperson at the French Embassy Moira Vilisoni.

Meanwhile on the 19th of this month the Australian Defence Force completed operations in Koro and did a hand over to the Fijian Government.

Whether foreign Governments will extend their work here or not, the RFMF is already providing replacements.

Commodore Viliame Naupoto–Commander of the RFMF said “When Australia and NZ when they pull out from Koro and Vanuabalavu we are going to deploy a little bit more people into these two islands. We know there’s a platoon which is about 40 people leaving for Vanuabalavu next week and the same will happen in Koro just to continue the work that is done there.”

Meanwhile, personnel of the Australian Defence Force remain on Koro doing ongoing planning for engagements.

If the foreign troops do depart this also means the return of valuable resources.

He adds “We were very lucky that these resources came helicopters, the ships it made a big positive impact to the response phase and we are so thankful for that.We will fee it when they leave but the good thing is the road network is back so we will just have to continue without those assets , but they were needed most during the response phase.”
