Government is awaiting the results of the Post Disaster Needs Assessment which will form the basis of the long term recovery plan.
This was stated by the Minister for National Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu in parliament today.
The Post-Disaster Needs Assessment process started on March 29th with the aim of assessing the socio-economic impact of the cyclone, including quantifying the damage and loss in critical sectors of the economy.
The Assessment focuses on critical early, medium and long-term recovery and reconstruction needs in all key sectors and these are being documented in a Disaster Recovery Framework scheduled to be finalized later this week.
The Disaster Recovery Framework will provide a means by which to ensure a coordinated response to recovery transition.
