The Government of Tokelau today became the 10th member of the Pacific Islands Development Forum Charter.
The official ceremony known as the signing of the instrument of accession was conducted at the PIDF secretariat in Suva.
The signing of the Charter signifies Tokelau’s commitment to the intention and the approach of PIDF towards the region’s development.
The Head of Government of Tokelau Afega Gaualofa said their commitment is also towards addressing issues of Climate Change,Disaster Vulnerabilities and Oceans as captured under the Suva Declaration.
Currently the PIDF has 12 members, 10 are Country members and the remaining two are Civil society groups PIANGO and PIPSO.
Also attending the signing of instrument of Accession was the Secretary General of PIDF, Francois Martel the New High Commissioner Mark Ramsden and members of Civil Society Organisations.
