The Tamavua-i-Wai bridge is open to two lanes of traffic.
Fiji Roads Authority Acting CEO Rory Garland said that after two weeks of round the clock work, FRA contractor Fulton Hogan Highways Civil have completed the most critical strengthening works ahead of time.
Garland said that this will enable motorists to use both lanes of the bridge with an on-going weight restriction whilst the remaining works is completed.
He added the 18 tonne weight restriction will need to remain in place for both lanes until the completion of the remaining strengthening works.
The bridge has been restricted to one lane after a crack appeared on one of the steel beams end of last month.
