The Food and Agriculture Organisation has requested Fiji to assume a lead role in implementing its initiatives and instruments in the Pacific and help identify opportunities for resource and support assistance throughout the region.
Fiji and the F.A.O signed an agreement in 2015 to upgrade Organisation’s representation in Fiji.
In line with this agreement, Fiji will continue to explore opportunities for assistance, such as greater capacity building support, in-country institutional strengthening and the provision of relevant materials in any areas of FAO competence.
Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, also discussed with the Organisations Director General Jose Graziano da Silva about the recovery phase of TC Winston in Rome, Italy.
The F.A.O is currently assisting Fiji with post-Cyclone Winston recovery by providing technical assistance to strengthen policy making and planning through capacity building training and related advisory services.
