Shadow Minister for Public Enterprise Mosese Bulitavu has raised concern on the several portfolios being held by the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed – Khaiyum.
In a statement titled Minister for Economy a “Superman”, Bulitavu said it is impossible for Sayed- Khaiyum to hold 9 substantive Ministerial Portfolios.
Bulitavu said Attorney General controls almost 50 percent of the total 2016/2017 Budget Appropriation.
Sayed – Khaiyum’s Ministerial Portfolio include Office of the Attorney General, Ministry of Finance which is now the Ministry of Economy, Judiciary, Parliament, Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Civil Service and Ministry of Public Enterprise.
The Attorney General in response however said Bulitavu should not be personalizing issues.
“It would be nice if people focus on the budget itself rather than personalizing the issue and what really they should be looking at is the amount each ministry has and that’s really what they should be focused on, We should not be personalizing issues, I mean that is his prerogative. I’m sure the people of Fiji are more focused on substance rather than personalisation of issues.” said Sayed – Khaiyum
