A 41 year old man has been sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in prison after raping his step daughter in 2013.
The incident happened when his step daughter was 17 years old.
While sentencing the man, Suva High Court Judge Justice Priyantha Fernando said the man took advanatge of the victim and breeched her trust.
In his mitigation submission, the man told the court that he is the sole breadwinner of the family and is supporting his elderly parents.
Justice Fernado has set an 8 years and 10 months non parole period.
