All imported vehicles will undergo examination by the Japan Export Vehicle Inspection Center Company Limited.
JEVIC is an offshore company specialized in pre-shipment structural and mechanical inspection of used vehicles.
From today all vehicles will be throughly inspected by the company, however this does not guarantee a vehicle’s import approval into Fiji.
Land Transport Authority Chief Executive Naisa Tuinaceva says Under this system, inspection is mandatory for all Fiji-bound vehicles.
“Structural problems from the other side, they left the other side, those that bypass bio-security all staying back in japan, even the odometer has been verified which is one of the biggest issue, people are complaining about the faulty odor meter, so that’s a big one and its in a way its supposed to be treated.”
The new system can tackle deception by the used car industry, and will benefit customers by reducing unscrupulous and unethical practices.
