Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports and 2012 Paralympic Games gold medalist Iliesa Delana joined Fiji Paralympic high jumper, Epeli Baleibau, at training on Wednesday.
Delana visited the Fiji Paralympic team at the Games Village to wish them well and accompanied the Fijian Paralympic high jumper to a training session at a Brasil Airforce base in Rio de Janeiro.
Delana joined his former coach, Freddy Fatiaki, who is now the President of the Fiji Paralympic Association, during the session to support Baleibau and coach Ben Qumi’s charge in the men’s high jump T47 class today.

In an earlier statement Permanent Secretary for Youth and Sports Alison Burchell said “ Delana has been there, done that and won the medal” so he will be a valuable resource for the team.
Delana also met Oceania Paralympic President, Mr Paul Bird, at the Games Village to discuss Paralympic sport assistance to the region and witnessed the handover of high jump shoes to Fijian Paralympic high jumper Epeli Baleibau.
