screen-shot-2016-09-24-at-4-51-49-pmThe Fiji Medical and Dental Council have started its investigations into a case of alleged wrong diagnosis where 35 year old man lost the vision of his eye.

Surya Prakash, a taxi driver from Caubati was allegedly treated wrongly for an eye virus at a public eye clinic.

The matter has since then been reported to the Council for an independent investigation.

“As per our complaint process, the optomology team that were treating Mr. Prakash’s left eye have been served with a copy of the complaint to respond. Once we hear from them, then our professional conducts committee will be notified and the matter will be decided then,” said the Chief Executive of Council, Dharmesh Prasad.

Further details of the investigation cannot be revealed at this stage.

Council hopes to round up the investigation in a month’s time.

“We normally give them 14 to 21 days to respond because sometimes they will have to go through the medical notes to provide a proper response with all the details”
