Prime Minister and Minister for Sugar Voreqe Bainimarama has requested an expansion of the existing sugar arrangement between Fiji and the United Kingdom.
Bainimarama met with the UK Minister for Asia and the Pacific, Alok Sharma at the margins of the United Nations General Assembly to discuss on increasing Fiji’s access to the UK sugar market.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Fiji’s renewed emphasis on boosting trade with international partners to increase the presence and awareness of the Fijian-Made brand in foreign markets.
Bainimarama urged the UK to use its influence to push for greater international action on climate change adaptation and mitigation.
