3 families are now without a home after a fire fully destroyed the house they were living in.
This incident happened yesterday in Votualevu outside Nadi.
This is the remain of 3 flats where 11 people lived in, completely destroyed along with a car that was parked outside when the fire broke out yesterday.
“It was around 10am in the morning when my wife called me to say that the house is on fire so i had to rush from work to my house so when i came here two of my flats were on fire. When i got here i asked for my children and they said they’ve gone to my brother’s place.” said Sanjiv Raj – Owner.
Raj says the fire had spread so quickly that they were not able to save anything from their house, and so as his tenants.
“It is more than two hundred thousand, everything gone. only my car and one pair of my uniform that i was wearing for work. that’s the only thing we saved, our uniform and car and kids.” he said.
However Raj is grateful that no one was seriously hurt in the fire. His tenants a family of three and a family of four all escaped in time.
“My tenant’s wife was little bit burnt in the hair and i think on the hand but her husband took her out of the house.”
Investigations is currently underway to ascertain the cause of the fire.
